Hassan Diarra had 19 points and eight assists, Aidan Mahaney and Tarris Reed Jr. helped spark a second-half comeback and No. 11 UConn overcame a 14-point deficit to beat visiting Providence 87-84 on Sunday and extend its home winning streak to 28 games.

Solo Ball added 16 points for UConn (12-3, 4-0 Big East). Mahaney scored 15, Alex Karaban had 13 and Reed had all of his 10 in the second half.

Jayden Pierre scored 24 points for Providence (7-8, 1-3).

The Friars scored the final nine points in the first half, with UConn missing nine of its last 10 shots.

NO. 9 OREGON 83, MARYLAND 79: Jackson Shelstad scored 23 points to lead the host Ducks over the Terrapins.

Shelstad was 8 for 10 from the field and made all five of his 3-point attempts while grabbing five rebounds for the Ducks (13-2, 2-2 Big Ten).

Rodney Rice led Maryland (11-4, 1-3) with 19 points and Derik Queen scored 17.

NO. 20 PURDUE 79, NORTHWESTERN 61: den Smith had 22 points and seven assists to lead the host Boilermakers to a rout of the Wildcats.

Smith hit 8 of 16 shots for Purdue (11-4, 3-1 Big Ten). Trey Kaufman-Renn and C.J. Cox each scored 12 points for the Boilermakers.

Angelo Ciaravino led the Wildcats (10-5, 1-3) with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting.

NO. 22 ILLINOIS 81, WASHINGTON 77: Kasparas Jakucionis made a tiebreaking layup with 32 seconds left and the visiting Illini survived a furious comeback bid by the Huskies.

Illinois (11-3, 3-1 Big Ten) had a 17-point lead but the Huskies tied it at 75 on Luis Kortright’s layup with 47 seconds left. Jakucionis then scored and the Illini put it away at the free-throw line.

DJ Davis led the Huskies (10-5, 1-3) with 31 points, finishing 7 for 14 from beyond the arc.

WOMEN

NO. 2 SOUTH CAROLINA 95, MISSISSIPPI STATE 68: Chloe Kitts had 17 points and 10 rebounds to help the visiting Gamecocks (13-1, 2-0 SEC) erase a double-digit deficit and beat the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State had an 11-point lead midway through the second quarter. South Carolina outscored the Bulldogs 19-2 in the final five minutes of the period to get the lead and extend it to 42-34 at halftime.

Jerkaila Jordan had 24 points to lead the Bulldogs (13-3, 0-2).

NO. 3 NOTRE DAME 76, NO. 17 NORTH CAROLINA 66: Hannah Hidalgo scored 18 of her 24 points before halftime while the visiting Fighting Irish knocked down 13 3-pointers to beat the Tar Heels.

Hidalgo joined with her fellow past Associated Press All-American backcourt mate Olivia Miles in helping Notre Dame (12-2, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) win its seventh straight game. Hidalgo and Miles (19 points) each made five 3s.

Maria Gakdeng had 16 points for the Tar Heels (13-3, 1-2).

NO. 6 LSU 73, AUBURN 63: Aneesah Morrow had 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the host Tigers to a victory over the visiting Tigers.

Morrow kept LSU unbeaten (17-0, 2-0 SEC) as it continued its second-best start in school history. Reserve Kailyn Gilbert added 17 points for LSU.

Auburn (9-6, 0-2) was led by DeYona Gaston, who scored 16 points.

NO. 7 UCONN 83, VILLANOVA 52: Paige Bueckers scored 15 points before leaving the game with an injury to help the visiting Huskies rout the Wildcats (7-8, 1-2 Big East).

Bueckers added nine assists for the Huskies (13-2, 4-0) before getting hurt with 1:17 left in the third quarter. Bueckers was going for a loose ball when Villanova’s Jasmine Bascoe dived and went into the All-Americans’ left knee, bending it back awkwardly. Bueckers sat on the court for a minute before limping off.

She went to the locker room and returned to the bench a few minutes later. She didn’t go back into the game.
