MESA launches 100 Heart Project

This Valentines Day, Moving to End Sexual Assault, an organization that aims to end sexual assault and violence is raising money for their 100 Heart Project.

There are three types of donations: a small, 5×5 heart for $100, a medium, 8×8 heart for $250 and a large 12×2 heart for $500.

After donating, MESA adds names on the heart and displays it on the “heart wall” at their office.

“When you make a heart donation, you can honor your person in a meaningful way by adding their name or a message to the heart during the month of February” the news release read.

MESA also allows donors to visit their office to, “personalize your heart and get your picture taken as a proud donor with Fievel, MESA’s Facility Dog,” according to the release.

According to their website, the Lafayette-based MESA is the only sexual violence resource center in Boulder County and has been serving the community since 1972.

“Hearts will be permanently displayed in the MESA office as a symbol of strength and support for survivors, and as a lasting symbol of your honor for them.”

Title IX Student Council seeks submissions for exhibit

Boulder Valley’s Title IX Student Council is inviting district high school students to submit art for an upcoming exhibit at the Dairy Arts Center on consent.

The submissions should be centered around the importance of consent and appropriate for viewing by all ages. Poetry, writing and digital art are welcome.

Art on paper may be in any medium, while sculptures must be self standing.

A student may submit multiple pieces.

The deadline to submit is March 3, while notification of the pieces chosen is expected by March 9.

The exhibition is scheduled to start April 6.

Ramos set for arraignment in April

The man accused of fatally shooting his wife in their Broomfield apartment last year was set for arraignment during a hearing Wednesday morning.

John Ramos is being charged with first-degree murder after his wife was found fatally shot in their Stonegate Apartment on Sept. 25.

According to court notes from Wednesday’s hearing, the court found probable cause in the case.

According to previous reporting, Broomfield Police Department was called to the apartment complex around 5:30 p.m., where they found Ramos’ wife dead in the apartment.

Ramos was arrested and booked in the Broomfield Detention Center on first-degree murder and domestic violence charges.

Ramos’ arraignment was set for April 21.
