The NFL rumor mill started churning this week upon news that star Raiders receiver Davante Adams wants out of Las Vegas.

After the Detroit Lions spent months trying to get some receiver help of their own, the question around these parts naturally became: Is Adams a potential candidate to be dealt to Detroit before the Nov. 5 trade deadline?

Outside of a trade for Carlton Davis III that sent a third-round pick to Tampa Bay this past offseason, general manager Brad Holmes has yet to show ultra-aggressiveness in free agency or trade markets — outside of the draft, anyway.

The Lions are already down a third-round pick in the 2025 draft because of a trade with the New York Jets that allowed Detroit to select offensive tackle Giovanni Manu in the 2024 NFL Draft. Given how important drafting has been to this regime’s success, it’s hard to imagine they can meet at Vegas’ reported starting price — a second-rounder and more — to bring Adams into Detroit.
