10 teams

Broomfield softball: The Eagles ended their incredible 2024 campaign in the Class 5A state semifinals, falling 9-8 to No. 6 seed and eventual state champion Riverdale Ridge. Their 27-1 record was fueled by a strong junior class.

Holy Family softball: The Tigers likewise paved their way to the 4A state semis and also fell to the eventual state champion with Lutheran. They ended their season at 21-7 behind senior ace Izzy Arroyo, who put together a 1.72 ERA through 24 appearances.

Nederland girls cross country: Amika Begin placed fifth with a time of 20 minutes, 34.84 seconds at the Class 2A Region 2 race to lead a band of Panthers that qualified for the state meet at third place. It’s the second year in a row the girls will send a full team.

5A Region 3 cross country: The local ladies showed out in the do-or-die meet to qualify for state, filling out the top four team spots necessary to send a full squad to the Norris Penrose Event Center. Niwot, naturally, won out, with Boulder, Fairview and Broomfield in tow. The boys’ side followed a similar pattern through the first three teams.

Skyline football: The Falcons dispelled with the suspense and picked up their first win of the season in their ninth game, this one coming against Adams City by a 41-8 score. Quarterback Servando Morales paced the offense with three touchdowns and 102 yards on the ground.

Centaurus boys soccer: The Warriors engaged in a tie with Silver Creek during the final game of the regular season, leaving the 4A Granite Peaks League title up in the air until the final CHSAA rankings were assessed. Centaurus won that honor with the No. 4 seed for the state tournament, beating out the Raptors by a single spot. They’ll host Rampart on Halloween.

Skyline volleyball: The Falcons beat Silver Creek in a 3-1 showing to end a lengthy losing streak and enter their final match with a 9-13 record. Mikaela Stromquist and Gabriela Medina-Valdez combined for 24 kills.

Broomfield football: The Eagles punctured Riverdale Ridge’s perfect record to secure the 4A North 1 league title after outlasting the Ravens in a 22-13 thriller. CT Worley injected extra life into their offense, scoring two of the team’s three touchdowns.

3A boys soccer: The BoCo region secured the top three seeds in the 3A boys soccer playoffs, starting with No. 1 Holy Family (11-2-2) and followed by No. 2 Jefferson Academy (11-3-1) and No. 3 Peak to Peak (8-2-4).

Mead volleyball: The Mavericks extended their winning streak to five matches with straight sweeps over Monarch and Broomfield last week. Now 12-6, they sit at No. 11 in CHSAA’s Selection & Seeding Index for Class 4A.

10 athletes

Malakhi Payne, Monarch football: When it appeared Monarch would lose to Frederick on Friday night, the Coyotes unveiled their secret weapon. Payne sprinted 50 yards in the final minutes to put his team into scoring position and served as the catalyst for a 21-20 victory. He ended the game with 153 yards.

Michaela Coleman, Lyons volleyball: In the team’s pair of three-set matches last week, Coleman was a menace at the net. She collected 19 kills and eight blocks as the Lions moved to 16-2 on the season. They’re eyeing a hosting responsibility for regionals.

Noah Chavarria, Longmont soccer: The Trojans junior accounted for both of his team’s goals in a 2-2 tie with 3A No. 1 Holy Family during the final game of the regular season. Longmont earned the No. 6 seed in the 4A bracket.

Braylon Toliver, Erie football: Toliver continuously slipped through the grasp of Legacy’s defense on Friday night, picking up almost 300 yards while touching the end zone three times. Most of that yardage came from 79-yard and 75-yard touchdowns runs in the second half.

Reagan Bayley, Legacy volleyball: In the Lightning’s tight, four-set loss to Erie, Bayley exploded offensively with 21 kills, then added 19 digs in the process. She leads Legacy with 246 kills on the year.
