The faculty at Hogwarts is coming to fruition for the new “Harry Potter” HBO series.

Variety writes that two more actors have joined the cast to play two notable roles, one of which comes from the first book in the popular J.K. Rowling series, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”

HBO has confirmed that Broadway actor Luke Thallon will play Professor Quirinus Quirrell in a recurring role and Paul Whitehouse, who actually played the very small role of Sir Cadogan in the third installment of the “Harry Potter” movie series, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” will play Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch.

Whitehouse, a veteran British actor, has also lent his voice in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” in 2010, “Alice Through the Looking Glass” in 2016 and he worked again with Burton in “Corpse Bride.”

Popular stars that surfaced in rumors to play significant roles in the new series have also been confirmed. John Lithgow will portray Professor Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Professor Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as the lovable Rubeus Hagrid.

Variety adds filming for the new series is set to begin this summer and that executives have gone the route of “open casting” for main characters Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. The series will reportedly be a “faithful adaptation” of the “Harry Potter” book series.

The official description of the new “Harry Potter” series reads, “Exploring every corner of the wizarding world, each season will bring ‘Harry Potter’ and its incredible adventures to new and existing audiences.”
