Angel City Football Club will kick off the 2025 season Sunday, March 16, at BMO Stadium against San Diego Wave FC.

The NWSL released the 2025 schedule Wednesday. Teams will again play 26 regular-season games (13 home, 13 away). This year, there will be a pair of schedule breaks, first the mandated break June 23-29 and during July.

Angel City will have a pair of three consecutive home-game stretches, the first May 24 (Racing Louisville FC), June 7 (Chicago Stars FC) and June 14 (North Carolina Courage). The second will be more than four months later: Oct. 6 (Kansas City Current), Oct. 12 (Houston Dash) and ACFC’s final home game Oct. 19 (Portland Thorns FC).

The longest stretch away from BMO Stadium is four games, starting June 20 in Kansas City before the league break and resuming in August (at Seattle Reign, Aug. 1), the second meeting against San Diego Wave (Aug. 9 at Snapdragon Stadium) and Aug. 15 at Utah Royals FC. Angel City’s two meetings against their Northern California rivals, Bay FC, are set for May 17 at PayPal Park and Sept. 1 at BMO Stadium.

Angel City will play eight games on Fridays, twice on Mondays and twice on Thursdays. The other days will be either Saturday or Sunday. The regular season concludes Nov. 2 on the road against Chicago on NWSL Decision Day, with all 14 clubs in action as the final playoff berths are decided.

The season will begin March 7 with the Challenge Cup between the Orlando Pride and the Washington Spirit, a rematch of the 2024 NWSL Championship. The first week of the regular season kicks off Friday, March 14. Angel City missed the NWSL playoffs last season, for the second time in its first three seasons, after finishing in 12th place.

Laity serving as interim coach

Sam Laity, who spent 10 seasons as an assistant coach with the OL Reign (2013-2022) and most recently coached the Houston Dash (2022-23), is Angel City’s interim coach as preseason training kicks off. With the Dash, he compiled a 6-10-8 record. Angel City fired Becki Tweed after last season, her first and only full season in charge. Recently hired Sporting Director Mark Parsons has said he’s not going to rush hiring a permanent coach.

Kennedy joins from Manchester City

Angel City signed Alanna Kennedy, a 30-year-old defender, to a one-year contract with an option for 2026. Kennedy spent the past four seasons with Manchester City. Kennedy also played on the Australian national team in the 2015, 2019 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
