Larceny at senior community was inside job
Over the course of 10 days earlier this month, Shelby Township police took four separate larceny complaints from a senior citizen community.
Multiple residents reported jewelry missing from their rooms between the dates of May 5-14. The jewelry missing included necklaces, pendants, and wedding rings.
While working on the case, one of the Shelby Township detectives received an anonymous tip that an employee of the senior citizen community was involved with stealing the jewelry.
The officer used a law enforcement database to see if items had been pawned or sold. The detective working on the case found a name that kept popping up, the same name given to that detective from the anonymous tipster.
The detective investigating the case was able to locate most of the stolen items.
Shelby Township detectives and officers waited for the individual who was alleged to have taken the items to come to work and were able to take her into custody.
On May 16, Nicole Danielle Putman, 34, was arraigned at Shelby Township 41-A District Court in front of Magistrate James Verploeg and charged with four couts of felony-larceny in a building. Putman pleaded not guiltiy and was given a bond of $5,000 cash/surety 10% allowed.
A probable cause hearing is scheduled for May 29 at 1 p.m. and a preliminary examination for June 5 at 1 p.m.
