Resident of Walnut Creek

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley Kolin, who died peacefully on June 7, 2025, after living for many years with Alzheimer’s disease.

Shirley, a 30-year resident of Walnut Creek, was born in 1947 in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. As achild, she lived in many places while traveling the country with her mother, Marge, an experience that helped shape her curiosity and adaptability.

She attended the University of Northern Colorado, where she studied physical education and earned her teaching credential. Shirley went on to build a successful career in banking, working for nearly 30 years at both Bank of America and WestAmerica Bank.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and friend whose kindness and good humor touched all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill, her cherished daughter, Jennifer, and her beloved son, Michael.

She was preceded in death by her dear sister, Sandra Majeske, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.

Shirley’s family will remember her for her warmth, resilience, and the unwavering love she gave to those around her. Though Alzheimer’s may have taken her memory, it never touched her spirit, nor the many memories that live on in the hearts of those she loved.

A private service will be held to honor Shirley’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
