Resident of Los Gatos

Jon Potter Anderson (81), lifelong resident of Los Gatos, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, following the effects of a recent stroke. He joins his parents, Dale and Mary, and daughter Kate Medina (Jose Luis). He is survived by his wife BJ, his sons Dale, Peter, Zachary (Jennifer), brother Richard (Cathie), sister Betsy (Tom), sister Kris, eight nieces & nephews, and eight granddaughters.

Jon settled in the Los Gatos area after moving out West during high school in 1960 from Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Jon became a landscaper and worked as a volunteer firefighter at the downtown Saratoga firehouse, eventually becoming the first paid firefighter at that station.

He went on to grow his landscape operations that have have now operated over seven decades, started several tree nurseries, a landscape building supply, a specimen large tree moving company, and developed & managed properties.

Jon had many things he was passionate about outside of his work life, including spending time with family & friends at his ranch, Camel Hill Vineyards, above Lexington reservoir where he raised several types of exotic animals. He also became an accomplished vintner and grew several varietals of wine grapes on his property.

Jon made many friends through his life in part by his many travels around the world, fishing & hunting expeditions, love of fine dining, and association with the Santa Clara County Wine Society.

Jon's humor, loud laughter, and love of life were contagious and will be missed by all!

A private celebration of Jon's life will be held in early Spring by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the charity of your choice.
