FORT MYERS, Fla. >> His velocity readings were down from where they normally are, but there’s no reason to fret. At least, Bailey Ober doesn’t think so.

Ober, who threw five scoreless innings and gave up just two hits in the Twins’ 6-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday afternoon at Hammond Stadium, attributed the lower velocity to kinks in his delivery that he’s been trying to work through.

His four-seamer, per Statcast data, was down 2.4 mph on average. The highest reading on Tuesday was 90.5 mph, and the velocity on each pitch was down as he works to find his timing.

“It’s coming along, but it’s still just like a day-to-day thing right now,” he said. “I feel good throwing. I feel healthy. It’s just not coming out the way I want it to right now, even though I’m having great results and locating stuff and having good shapes on my pitches. It’s just velo’s down a little bit.”

As for why that may be?

“Just all timing, and when I’m 6-9, it’s hard to get timing right. So, if one little thing is off, it kind of skews everything, whereas a normal-sized human might get away with it a little more,” Ober said.

Against a division rival, Ober said, he wanted to “throw the kitchen sink” so as to not give anything away. On Tuesday, that meant a lot of curveballs.

The 13 he threw (17 percent of all pitches), he said, was probably the most he had ever thrown in a big league game, spring training or regular season.

The results were positive.

“Maybe it’s something I can lean into and use a little bit more,” Ober said.

More cuts

The Twins announced another round of roster cuts Tuesday, optioning Jair Camargo to Triple-A and reassigning right-handed pitchers Darren McCaughan and Huascar Ynoa to minor league camp.

Camargo will serve as important catching depth should the Twins need to replace Christian Vázquez or Ryan Jeffers. The moves leave them with 37 players in camp and a little over a week to get that number to 26.

Briefly

The Twins will have Wednesday off before resuming play on Thursday against the Boston Red Sox. Chris Paddack is scheduled to start. … Carlos Correa collected his first spring hit since March 5 on Tuesday. … Edouard Julien had a pair of hits and drove in two runs. He also was picked off second base and made an out running to third. … Rule 5 draft pick Eiberson Castellano, who is competing for a spot in the bullpen, gave up three runs and recorded just two outs. Jhoan Duran gave up three runs (two earned) and got just one out on Tuesday.
