Leslie “Tom” Matthey has passed away quickly and peacefully at 90-years-old. He is survived by his daughter Cindy Wallwork who is married to John Wallwork, and son David Matthey who is married to Julia Matthey. Tom was a wonderful, supportive Grandpa to seven grandkids: Jake, Susanna, and Edika Wallwork, and Ryan, Eric, Adam and Lily Matthey.
Tom was born an only child in North Dakota and attended the University of North Dakota graduating with a degree in business. Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force and became a part of MATS –Military Air Transport Service where he flew over sixty international flights to Europe in a prop airplane to transport soldiers. He met and married his beautiful wife Darlene who proceeded him in death in 2018 after 62 years of marriage.
As a profession Tom was a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch for 45 years. Hobbies included flying, classic cars, Model A Club, Tractor Club, and T-Bird Club. He drove the tractor in the Carlsbad flower fields for tours, became a docent at John Wayne Airport and the Lyon Air Museum.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 8th, at 10:30 AM at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Lake Forest, California.
