Mervin Duane Nelson fulfilled his final goal of turning 100 years old!
Merv was born 11/24/1924 in Mayville, North Dakota, the oldest of 5 children. He was working any job he could by 10 years old to help his family.
His family moved to California when he was a Senior in High School. Merv stayed in Mayville living with the Principal to play his final year of football.
After high school he enlisted and served as a Marine in WW2 for 2 years.
After discharge, Merv married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth Swanson, they moved to San Francisco while Merv went to Dental School.
In 1956 they moved to Woodland with 3 kids in tow and one on the way. Merv practiced Dentistry for 30 years in Woodland.
He loved his family, Woodland, dentistry, golf and the Crap tables in Tahoe, not necessarily in that order.
Merv is survived by Christy Allen and her husband Dick Allen. Steven Nelson and Beth Nelson.
Two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, daughter Diane Nelson and son Jon Nelson.
Merv requested no services.
