Boulder is looking for a private developer to partner with the city in designing, building, financing, operating and maintaining city facilities. The city will host a virtual information session for prospective partners later this month.

Many of Boulder’s existing facilities are 50 years old, on average, and some are in critical condition. The city hopes to form a public-private partnership with a developer to upgrade the aging buildings and participate in other projects such as renovating the East Boulder Recreation Center, building a replacement Fire Station 2 and developing a new Western City Campus for local government at the Alpine-Balsam project site.

This partner could support Boulder in lowering the cost of its building portfolio and also help achieve some of the city’s long-term goals in maintenance, sustainability and other areas.

During the city’s virtual information session, which will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Dec. 19, prospective partners will have a chance to learn about the city’s planned projects and development goals.

Potential partners can find more information and register for the information session at bit.ly/3GBz6sQ. Registrants will receive an emailed link 24 hours prior to the session.

The city plans to release a request for qualifications in early 2024. More information on the city’s Facilities Master Plan can be found at bouldercolorado.gov/projects/facilities-master-plan.
