The San Rafael Pacifics scored three times in the top of the sixth inning Sunday then held on for a 5-4 victory against the Santa Rosa Scuba Divers to extend their season-opening win streak to nine games.

Jairanme Morales had an RBI single for the Pacifics (9-0 Pecos) in the sixth inning. San Rafael also scored twice on wild pitches during the frame en route to a 4-3 lead.

San Rafael scored an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Telly Hill. Santa Rosa (1-8) pulled within 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth but went down in order to end the game in the ninth.

Fred Buckson had two hits and scored twice to lead the way offensively for the Pacifics.

San Rafael picked up its eighth win of the season on Saturday with a 9-3 home victory against the Bakersfield Train Robbers. The game was tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the eighth inning then the Pacifics scored six runs to gain some separation.

San Rafael got run-scoring hits in the big inning from Keith Whitaker, Nick Gajewski, and John Bicos — who had three hits, including a home run and drove in three runs.

The Pacifics have three days off until their next game — a home date Thursday against the Dublin Leprechauns.

Prep track

The Branson School 4×800 relay team — with Maya Gidney, Imogen Brown, Farah Allen, and Hailey Sellers — placed 10th at the State Meet in Clovis with a time of 9 minutes, 4.27 seconds in a race that ended after press time on Saturday night.
