Elizabeth (Betty) Lee Medearis passed away peacefully at age 94 on December 18, 2024 at Villa Gardens in Pasadena.

She was born to Edward and Marguerite Burrall in 1930 in Phoenix, AZ, where she was raised through high school. Following graduation from Occidental College in 1951, she initially taught in elementary school. As a long-time resident of San Marino throughout her adulthood, she was an active member of the Valley Hunt Club, the Town Club, Junior League, Pasadena Garden Club, and PEO, as well as a prominent docent at the Huntington Library for over 50 years. In addition to a deep love for family and friends, she had a great love of the outdoors, which she enjoyed through hiking, tennis, swimming, gardening, skiing, riding horses, and travel.

Following marriages to Graham Sterling (1949-1972), producing her 4 daughters, then Roger Medearis, a renowned regional artist (1976-2001), she was a dear companion to Sandy McLean for 8 years until his death in 2018. A wonderful mother and a remarkable woman, she is beloved and survived by her four daughters, Katherine, Jennifer, Leslie, and Wendy, as well as her 3 sons-in-law; her 7 grandchildren to whom she will be forever known as "Bee", Yvonne, Christina, Maggie, Anna, Jeff, Sterling, and Evan; and her 9 great grandchildren, Josie, Cassidy (deceased), Marie, Roger, Carter, Sterling, Walter, Caden, and Landon.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the San Marino Community Church on her birthday January 22, 2025 at 1 pm. Condolences can be posted on the Cabot and Sons website. In lieu of flowers, donations under her name can be sent to The Huntington (Library) via their website.
