Riverside officials invite the community to learn more about a plan to transform a former golf course into a 126-acre sports complex and town center with housing.
Residents will be able to learn more about the project at a meeting from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Springbrook Clubhouse, 1011 Orange St., as city officials continue negotiations with developers.
“This is a great opportunity for community members to learn more about this potential project and engage with the city and the developers,” Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson said, according to an April 8 city news release.
City officials and representatives from the developer, Adrenaline Sports Resorts Collaborative, will be present to discuss the proposal.
The Riverside City Council unanimously approved an exclusive negotiating agreement with the company on Feb. 25. The Northside Specific Plan lays out the development of nearly 85 acres of the city-owned Riverside Golf Club, which has been out of commission since 2009, and a nearby 41-acre open piece of land.
Under the city’s agreement with Adrenaline Sports Resorts Collective, the company has six months from February to bring a project proposal to the council.
Under the developer’s proposal, the old golf course would become the Riverside Adventure Center — featuring recreational areas, storefronts, restaurants, beer gardens, regional trails, a hotel, athlete hostel, and sports and aquatic facilities.
It would also be home to a Whitewater and Surf Park Adventure Center, according to the company’s project proposal.
