Passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, at the Shores of Lake Phalen after battling Acute Kidney Failure. Gene was born on September 13, 1937 to parents Patrick and Josephine Mascia. He graduated from Saint Thomas Academy in 1955; attended Marquette University; married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia A Wright on July 18, 1959, enlisted in the United States Army and went on to a 30 year career at Unisys. They raised two children, Robert "Bob" and Anne. They resided in Coon Rapids, MN then retired to their lake home in Siren, WI, where they truly enjoyed the summers.
They also enjoyed going south for many winters to their second home in La Feria, Texas, where they were surrounded by many friends and lots of sunshine. He then moved to the Shores of Lake Phalen to help care for and be by the side of his wife who battled Alzheimer’s.
Gene enjoyed coaching baseball, fishing, woodworking, golfing, playing cards and truly enjoyed the views of the lake. Gene is preceded in death by his father Patrick Mascia; mother Josephine Mascia; wife Patricia Mascia, who he missed desperately for the past two years. He is survived by his son, Robert "Bob" (Kim) Mascia; daughter Anne (JR) Mascia; brother Patrick Mascia (Karen); sister Joanne Baskfield (Glen) and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the staff at the Shores of Lake Phalen and the local Hospice care givers for their kind and passionate care of Gene in his final days. Gene will be remembered with a memorial service at Fort Snelling at a later date where he will be laid to rest next to his best friend / wife.
