Forward Kevin Knox II scored a team-high 24 points, and the Santa Cruz Warriors beat the visiting South Bay Lakers 128-118 in the teams’ NBA G League game at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Friday night.

Rookie two-way center Quinten Post scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season for Santa Cruz (2-1).

Warriors starting guard Yuri Collins (18 points), forward Jackson Rowe (16 points), and forward Gui Santos (15 points), on assignment from Golden State, all notched double-digit scoring performances by the end of the third quarter.

The Warriors had more turnovers (25) than they did assists (23).

Two-way guard Quincy Olivari scored a team-high 33 points, all of which came after the first quarter, to lead the Lakers (1-1). Guards Marlain Veal and DaJuan Gordon each scored 23 points after coming off the bench. Starting forward Alex Fudge scored 17 points.

Santa Cruz faces the host Stockton Kings (2-1) at Adventist Health Arena on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Men’s basketball

Pomona-Pitzer 101, at UC Santa Cruz 95 >> Joseph Espy had 28 points and six rebounds, and teammate Zino Okah had 27 points and five rebounds in the Banana Slugs’ loss at the West Field House on Friday night.

Andrew Ferrara-Jones and Ryan Wilson each scored 10 points for UCSC, and reserve Caden Breznikar had nine points and nine rebounds.

Joe Cookson had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Sagehens (2-0).

UCSC (2-2) hosts Lewis & Clark (1-0) at the West Field House on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Women’s basketball

At Whittier 63, UCSC 56 >> Ariel Anderson had 18 points, six rebounds, and three steals in the Banana Slugs’ road loss Friday.

Alyssa Jackson had 17 points, four rebounds, and four steals for UCSC, which shot 19 of 57 (33.3%) from the field.

Senior guard Rhe nae Leach had 30 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists to lead the Poets (3-0).

UCSC (1-3) plays at Cal Tech (2-0) in Pasadena on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Women’s volleyball

Christopher Newport 3, UCSC 1 >> Kelly Ann Greene had 10 kills, but the No. 3 seed Banana Lugs lost to the No. 2 Captains 18-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-21 in the Coast-To-Coast Conference Tournament semifinals in Newport News, Virginia, on Friday.

Ashley Magley had 10 kills and two blocks for UCSC. Kate Lau had eight kills, four blocks, and 17 digs, and Olly Gordon had seven blocks.

UCSC’s Margo Melgoza had 34 assists and 11 digs. Anna Hospodar had 21 digs and Abigail Lee had 12 digs.

Samantha Dorn had 14 kills to lead the Captains (23-9), who play No. 1 Salisbury for the title on Saturday at noon.

UCSC faces No. 4 Mary Washington for third place on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Men’s soccer

Cabrillo 4, at Foothill 0 >> Yoan Ponio and Carlos Gutierrez each score twice, and the Seahawks won their regular-season finale on Friday.

Ponio finished with 16 goals, the second highest total in the Coast Conference North Division. The Seahawks (7-8-4, 4-6-2) finished in fifth place in their division.

Luis Carrasco had two assists for the Seahawks, and Alex Booth had one.

Booth and the Owls’ Jorge Sosa both received red card violations in the 44th minute.

Both teams made four saves.

Women’s soccer

Hartnell 4, at Cabrillo 0 >> The Seahawks were shut out in their regular-season finale Friday.

Cabrillo (5-13-1, 2-6-1) finished in fifth place in the Coast Conference North Division.
