Houston Texans receiver Stefon Diggs will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee Sunday.
Coach DeMeco Ryans made the announcement Tuesday, calling Diggs being out a huge loss.
“It hurts our team to hear that news,” Ryans said. “He’s been such an important part to our team and just everything that he brought, not only on the field, but off the field. The energy, the leader, the way he worked every single day. He brought a lot to our team.”
Diggs suffered the non-contact injury in the third quarter of Houston’s win over the Colts on Sunday. He was running a route and pulled up and grabbed at his right knee before falling to the ground.
The 30-year-old Diggs had 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns in eight games in his first season in Houston after a trade from the Buffalo Bills.
Diggs is a four-time Pro Bowler who has had at least 1,000 yards receiving in each of the past six seasons, highlighted by 2020 when he led the NFL with a career-high 1,535 yards in his first year with the Bills after being acquired from Minnesota.
The Baltimore Ravens acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson and a sixth-round pick in 2025 from the Carolina Panthers for a 2025 fifth-rounder.
Johnson had been Carolina’s leading wide receiver since being acquired in an offseason trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for cornerback Donte Jackson. Johnson has 30 receptions for 357 yards and three touchdowns for Carolina, but did not play in Sunday’s 28-14 loss to the Denver Broncos because of a rib injury.
Johnson was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
He now joins second-year wide receiver Zay Flowers and 24-year-old Rashod Bateman — plus a handful of capable tight ends — among Lamar Jackson’s options.
The 28-year-old Johnson’s best season came in 2021 when he caught 107 passes for 1,161 yards with eight touchdowns for the Steelers.
He followed that up with 86 catches for 882 yards in 2022, and his numbers fell off last year as the Steelers shifted the focus of their passing game to young wide receiver George Pickens. Johnson finished with a career-low 51 catches for 717 yards along with five TDs in 2023.
The Indianapolis Colts are benching Anthony Richardson to start Joe Flacco at quarterback on Sunday at Minnesota.
Richardson, the fourth pick in the 2023 NFL draft, was 10 of 32 passing and got sacked five times in a 23-20 loss to Houston on Sunday that dropped the Colts’ record to 4-4.
Flacco came in relief earlier this season and started the next two games when Richardson was out with a right hip injury. The 39-year-old completed 71 of 108 passes for 716 yards and seven touchdowns, and Indianapolis went 2-1.
Richardson is 59 of 133 for 958 yards, four TDs and seven interceptions.

Angel City Football Club announced that forward Sydney Leroux has signed a three-year contract extension through 2027.
Leroux, who joined Angel City in 2022 in a trade with the Orlando Pride, has played in 24 games this season with seven goals scored. Her goal total is her highest since 2021 when she scored eight with the Pride.
“This is my last go and I’m excited to end my career here,” Leroux, 34, said. “My family and I are so excited to continue to be a part of Angel City and I promise to give my everything until the wheels fall off.”
Leroux has 48 career goals, good for eighth on the NWSL all-time scoring list.
“Re-signing Sydney Leroux is a testament to her invaluable impact both on and off the pitch,” ACFC Technical Director Mark Wilson said. “As a seasoned professional and US women’s National team icon, Sydney has been pivotal in driving the growth of the league and bringing unforgettable moments to our fans during her time at Angel City.
“Her goals have fueled some of our most defining performances. We are thrilled she will continue her career with Angel City as we continue to lay the foundation for a sustainable and successful team for seasons to come.”
Angel City will conclude its NWSL season Friday on the road against the Portland Timbers.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Nicolas Jarry 7-5, 6-1 to reach the third round of the Paris Masters.
The second-seeded Spaniard was troubled by Jarry’s strong forehand at times. The Chilean broke his serve in the ninth game and held for 5-5. But Jarry double-faulted in his next service game to lose the first set.
Alcaraz saved a break point in the third game with an ace and broke for a 4-1 lead with a forehand winner.
Serving for the match, Alcaraz saved another break point with an ace to make it deuce and won the next two points, clinching victory when the erratic Jarry’s two-handed backhand clipped the net and went out.
The four-time Grand Slam champion is looking for his fifth title of the year.
