Isabel Durst Story was born on October 11, 1929 to Oscar and Ethel Durst of Capay, California.
Isabel “Ib” spent her childhood years living on the farm in Hungry Hollow and enjoyed sharing that time with a large family consisting of both her mother and fathers’ siblings.
She was brought up during the Great Depression and learned to value many things in her life. She graduated from College of the Pacific (UOP) and married her high school sweetheart, George Story, in 1952.
They set up household in Sacramento where she worked at McClellan AFB and rose to the position of comptroller, serving over 30 years at the base.
Ib also worked evenings and weekends beginning in the early ‘70’s as the secretary/treasurer of GW Story & Associates, their financial investment company.
Isabel was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Oscar Durst, Sr., her brother Oscar Jr., and her husband of 69 years, George.
A graveside service will be held March 15 at 10am at the Capay, Cemetery.
