In 1983 he started at 32 year career for the Colorado Department of labor and employment where he was a veterans employment specialist helping so many of our veterans find gainful employment. This career was so important to him as he was a true loyalist and devoted to our service men and women. In 1997 he met the love of his life, Marianna Kiker and they were married on August 12, 2000 at the Hover Home in Longmont. Upon his marriage to Marianna he inherited three daughters that he proudly called his own. Jim had many interests in life, but it was his love of sports and the Colorado Buffaloes that was truly his passion . So many ballpark tours and fishing holes and numerous trips up the Poudre Canyon was his true delight. In 2015, he and Marianna retired and bought a convertible mustang, Sally, that gave them many fun trips in this great country of ours.
Sadly his bad health overcame him and he went home to be with the angels on April 24 th. We would like to thank Dr. Brian Hughes for the excellent medical care and sports smack that he gave to Captain Jim. Many thanks to Tru Community Care and their team who took delight in caring for Jim in his final days. Most of all, our appreciation and thanks to his personal care provider, his grandson, Bill, who saw to it that Jim's every need was taken care of. Jim's infectious smile and sense of humor will be missed the most. He is survived by his wife, Marianna and his three daughters, Erin (Lauri), Audrey and Stacy. 4 grandchildren, Savannah Stewart, William Stewart, Brooks Anderson and Vincent Anderson. 1 great granddaughter, Calaya.
There will be a graveside service at the Foothills Garden of Memory in Longmont on Sunday, May 4 th at 10am. The family asks that if you attend, to wear your favorite sports jersey or shirt.
And please, bring your smile.
