Campbell

James was a recent resident of Roseville, California after living most of his life in Campbell, California in the South Bay Area. He was born in San Jose, CA to parents, Dorothy and James Gilmore. His father was an U.S. Navy crew member on the U.S.S. Macon airship stationed at Moffett Field at that time.

James attended Santa Clara High School and San Jose State University. “Jim” was an Engineering manager at IBM in San Jose and retired in 1992 after 36 years of dedicated employment. He received multiple Outstanding Achievement awards and an IBM GPD President’s Award for “Excellence as a Way of Life” during his career.

Jim is survived by his four children: Julie Gilmore, Larry Gilmore, Lorene Ehlers, and Shari Harper. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Jennifer Camilleri, Melissa Boggio, Christopher Gilmore, Jackson Luboda, Alexis Luboda, Connor Ehlers, Kevin Ehlers, and Cole Harper plus his three great grandchildren, Benjamin Camilleri, Lucas Camilleri, and William Boggio. He is survived also by his former wife and mother of his children, Donna Gilmore. His partner of many decades, Barbara Semenoff, passed away in 2023. He was also predeceased by his sister, Suzanne Wilson, in 2011.

According to Jim’s children and others close to him, Jim was a wonderful gourmet cook, modern art lover, and thoughtful listener. He was very proud of his family. Jim had a dry sense of humor until he left us and passed away quickly with dignity while in Hospice Care after bouts of several age-related illnesses. He will also be remembered as a brilliant person with an inspiring intellectual curiosity. We all benefitted by his generous loving nature and his analytical gifts. James truly had a life well-lived and well-loved.
