Mill Valley

Bruce Wrisley was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and lived in Long Beach, California, Pendelton, Oregon, Port Townsend, Washington and graduated from Salem Oregon High School.

He went to Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA from 1945-1949 where he met Nancy Webster. He graduated with a BA degree in Psychology and was a Phi Beta Kappa. Two months later he married Nancy and they were married for 64 wonderful years.

He obtained an M.A. from Stanford University in Psychology and then spent three years in the U.S. Navy as an officer with two years on the USS Bremerton and one year in San Diego. In 1955, they moved to Mill Valley, CA and in 1956 Bruce started his 57-year career in real estate in Marin County. He owned or co-owned five real estate offices. Bruce was President of the Marin Association of Realtors in 1974. He was awarded, by MAR, the Realtor of the Year, The Distinguished Service Award, MAR Star (two times) and the Making a Difference Award.

Bruce taught at the College of Marin for 20years, 11 years teaching “Investment Real Estate” and 9 years teaching "Housing Alternatives for Seniors." Combining his real estate experience and education in psychology, he worked with Seniors doing "real estate counseling" since 1986. He then wrote a book entitled "The Senior Homeowner's Housing Dilemma, Stay Or Move", to help Seniors with the big decision.

Bruce was an active member of the Rotary Club of Mill Valley since 1966 and was President in 1983-84.

Bruce and Nancy traveled all over the world, seeing all the places that they wanted to: Over 40 countries.

Bruce was 97years old when he died at his home in Mill Valley. Nancy Wrisley died in July of 2012. They have two sons, Gregg Wrisley of Sebastopol and Michael Wrisley of Mount Shasta, CA. They also have 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Bruce’s Life will be held on Saturday April 5 at 4PM at Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church (410 Sycamore Ave., Mill Valley). All who knew him are welcome.
