Torrance, CA

Beloved husband, father and brother died peacefully at home in July. Born and raised in Idaho where he loved fishing for rainbow trout, he moved with his family to Torrance where he graduated from North High. After serving four years in the Air Force, he went on to earn his bachelor’s (Boise State) and master’s (Idaho State) degrees before heading to Baylor University in Waco, Texas. There he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn, and earned his doctorate. They moved to Torrance in 1976. Terry spent his career with Los Angeles County Office of Education working with special needs kids.

Terry was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn, their daughters, Jana and Julie, his brother, Creige (Imelda), and his nieces, nephews, and cousins.

With an incredible laugh and smile, he never lost his sweetness and kindness even as he neared the end. May his memory be a blessing to all who came into his orbit. Thank you to his caregivers, Alan and CJ, for their gentle care of him. The family also thanks Providence Hospice for watching over him in his final hours.

A Celebration of Life service will be on September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Riviera United Methodist Church, 375 Palos Verdes Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA. Lunch will follow at El Torito, 23225 Hawthorne, Blvd., Torrance.
