Colorado State’s men’s basketball team soundly defeated Wyoming in its version of the Border War on Saturday at Moby Arena in Fort Collins.

The Rams jumped out to a 44-19 halftime lead and never looked back, eventually winning 88-53 to improve to 16-9 overall and 10-4 in the Mountain West Conference.

Nique Clifford recorded his 12th double-double of the season for the Rams with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Kyan Evans added 15 points, and Jaylen Crocker-Johnson had 11.

The Rams took a 3-0 lead on a 3-pointer by Crocker-Johnson to begin the game, and it quickly became a rout. CSU spent the rest of the first 20 minutes extending their lead. A 3-pointer at the buzzer by Clifford gave CSU its largest lead of the opening period at 25 points, 44-19.

Clifford led the Rams with 13 points in the first half. Evans added 12 as the Rams shot 58% from the field in the first 20 minutes.

In the second half, Wyoming briefly cut CSU’s lead to 17 points three minutes in, but the Rams answered, eventually taking a 30-point lead at 78-48 with 6:19 remaining in the game.

The Rams’ largest lead was 36 points at 86-50 with 49 seconds remaining on a 3-pointer by Jaden Steppe. After Wyoming cut it to 86-53, Steppe made another basket to account for the final margin of victory for CSU.

The Rams ended up shooting 61% for the game and outrebounded the Cowboys 34-26. CSU got 33 points from its bench, led by Ethan Morton’s eight. Keshawn Williams and Nikola Djapa each had seven off the bench.

CSU will be back Tuesday when it hosts Nevada at 7 p.m. at Moby Arena.
