Two stretches of road in Oak Forest were temporarily closed this week after downed power lines blocked traffic, city officials said Thursday.
A power line fell on 155th Street, between Long Avenue and Betty Ann Lane, early Monday morning after a semi truck hit an overhead line, said city spokesperson Chrissy Maher. The city announced the street reopened to traffic by 9:30 a.m.
A separate incident was reported the following day on Cicero Avenue, causing a road closure between 151st Street and 155th Street. Both lines were owned by ComEd, Maher said.
Maher said a telephone pole snapped in front of John Amico School of Hair Design on Cicero early Tuesday morning, after a construction worker mistakenly hit the attached power lines.
The stretch of road reopened at about 8 p.m. after ComEd finished temporarily fixing the pole. Maher said she thinks ComEd returned Wednesday.
“As far as I know, ComEd replaced the poles,” Maher said.
ComEd did not return messages left Thursday.
