Called “Pat” by family and “JP” or “Bix” by his many friends across the states and on St. Croix, USVI. He is preceded in death by his parents G. Richard and Denise E. Bichsel, and brother, Rick (Deirdre). He is survived by his brothers and sisters Bridget (Frank), Mike (Kathy), Ann, Maggie, John (Mary), Marie (Scott), Will, and many nieces and nephews. From an early age, Pat’s inventive nature was amazing, entertaining, and sometimes not fully understood. When often asked, “Why did you do that?” Pat would just smile and say, “Because it was fun!” Luckily, his affinity for adventure was coupled with a strong sense of self-preservation. Pat served honorably in the United States Army.
His strong work ethic was undeniable.
He was a woodworker and builder on St. Croix, USVI for 28 years. He loved it and was quick to share stories of his projects and fun times in the Caribbean Islands. It was there he rescued “the best dog ever” Bart.
They were inseparable until Bart’s death in Oregon in 2012. Pat navigated life in a fair-minded and uncompromising manner, standing up for what he believed, regardless of the consequences. Serving him well, his quick and witty sense of humor was well-timed and often disarming. Pat had faith in God and persevered in his long battle of declining health with strength, dignity, and contentment.
Our brother will be missed beyond words. He passed away in Minneapolis on January 18, 2024. Private interment. Washburn-McReavy, Edina Chapel (952) 920-3996
