Dia’s 23 lead No. 21 Ole Miss over No. 4 Alabama
TUSCALOOSA, Ala.>> Malik Dia’s 23 points, 19 rebounds and two blocks led No. 21 Mississippi to a 74-64 upset of No. 4 Alabama on Tuesday.
Sean Pedulla scored 12 points and had three steals and Matthew Murrell scored 11. Jaylen Murray and Jaemyn Brakefield both scored 13 points off the bench for Ole Miss (15-2, 4-0 Southeastern Conference).
Aden Holloway led Alabama (14-3, 3-1) with 15 points, and Mark Sears added 11.
Ole Miss attempted 70 shots compared to Alabama’s 47, largely due to the Crimson Tide’s turnovers. Alabama shot 43% from the field while Ole Miss shot 39%, but the disparity in shot attempts was too much.
No. 1 Auburn 88, No. 15 Mississippi State 66>> Chad Baker-Mazara scored 20 points, and Auburn beat Mississippi State at home in its first game without star center Johni Broome.
Chaney Johnson, who replaced Broome in the starting lineup, had 17 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for Auburn (16-1, 4-0 Southeastern Conference).
Broome is out indefinitely with a left ankle sprain that he sustained last Saturday in Auburn’s 66-63 win at South Carolina.
Baker-Mazara shot 8 for 11, including 3 for 5 on 3-pointers. Miles Kelly and Denver Jones both scored 13, while Tahaad Pettiford added 12.
Mississippi State (14-3, 2-2) shot just 35%.
No. 3 Duke 89, Miami 54>> Freshman Kon Knueppel had season highs of 25 points and six 3-pointers to help Duke rout Miami 89-54 in Durham.
Khaman Maluach had 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Blue Devils (15-2, 7-0), who shot 54.8% and made 17 of 32 3-pointers, with 11 coming before halftime. Duke led by 24 at the break and never let Miami (4-13, 0-6) closer than 19 again.
Cooper Flagg had 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
No. 7 Marquette 85, DePaul 83 (OT)>> David Joplin made two of his seven 3-pointers in overtime, and Marquette outlasted DePaul in Chicago.
Joplin finished with 30 points on 9-for-17 shooting. Kam Jones had 18 points and 11 assists for Marquette (15-2, 6-0 Big East), which earned its sixth consecutive win.
Joplin’s two 3s at the beginning of overtime lifted the Golden Eagles to a 73-67 lead. Two second-chance baskets by Stevie Mitchell made it 77-69 with 1:22 to go.
DePaul (9-9, 0-7) outrebounded Marquette 46-31 and enjoyed a 27-0 advantage in bench points. The Blue Demons fell just short in a bid for the program’s first Big East win since March 8, 2023.
No. 8 Kentucky 81, No. 11 Texas A&M 69>> Jaxson Robinson scored 22 points to lead Kentucky past Texas A&M in Lexington.
Robinson made five of Kentucky’s nine 3-pointers, including four in the first half as the Wildcats (14-3, 3-1 SEC) improved to 5-0 against ranked opponents this season. Andrew Carr added 13 points and Otega Oweh finished with 11 for Kentucky.
Zhuric Phelps led the Aggies (13-4, 2-2) with 21 points, followed by Pharrel Payne with 15 and Manny Obaseki with 12.
No. 19 Illinois 94, Indiana 69>> Kylan Boswell scored 22 points, Kasparas Jakucionis added 21 and Illinois (13-4, 5-2 Big Ten) opened a 28-point halftime lead in a blowout of Indiana (13-5, 5-4) in Bloomington, Ind.
No. 24 Wisconsin 70, Ohio State 68>> John Tonje scored 17 points and Wisconsin staved off a late rally by Ohio State, extending its winning streak to six.
Ohio State trailed 37-20 at the half but cut it to 65-64 on Micah Parrish’s layup with 16 seconds left before Tonje helped the Badgers stay ahead from the foul line. John Blackwell added 15 points and Steven Crowl 14 for Wisconsin (14-3, 4-2 Big Ten).
Boise State 96, Wyoming 55>> Led by Andrew Meadow’s 18 points, the Boise State Broncos defeated the Cowboys.
No. 8 Maryland holds off No. 24 Minnesota
COLLEGE PARK, Md.>> Shyanne Sellers scored 27 points, and No. 8 Maryland gave No. 24 Minnesota an unpleasant welcome back to the Top 25, beating the Golden Gophers 99-92.
The Terrapins (16-1, 6-1 Big Ten) led by 20 before allowing a late 16-0 run by the Golden Gophers (16-2, 4-2). Maryland’s Kaylene Smikle put a stop to that with a pair of free throws with 29.7 seconds remaining, but Annika Stewart’s 3-pointer for Minnesota made it 95-92 with 20 seconds left.
Smikle made two more free throws, and Minnesota was unable to answer.
No. 10 TCU 90, UCF 81>> Sedona Prince scored 27 points, Hailey Van Lith matched her career high with six 3-pointers while scoring 20 and TCU won its ninth in a row.
Van Lith also had seven assists for the Horned Frogs (18-1, 6-0 Big 12), who had a 30-point first quarter and never trailed in the home win.
Baylor 70, No. 23 Utah 61>> Aaronette Vonleh scored 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting, Bella Fontleroy and Jada Walker each had a double-double and Baylor upset Utah in Waco.
Fontleroy finished with a season-high 17 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high five steals and Walker added 12 points and a career-high 12 assists for Baylor (15-3, 5-1 Big 12). Gianna Kneepkens and Maty Wilke led Utah (13-4, 4-2) with 17 points apiece.
Houston 79, No. 24 Oklahoma State 76>> Kierra Merchant scored 20 points and Gigi Cooke scored 16 points as Houston (5-12, 1-5 Big 12) won at home for its first win over a ranked opponent in nearly two years.
