Menlo School soccer player Bianca Putanec is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week and Gilroy wrestler Travis Grace is the boys athlete of the week for Feb. 17-22.

In the girls poll, Putanec finished with 40.93% of the votes. Archbishop Mitty soccer player Murphy Walsh was second at 25.71% and St. Ignatius soccer player Keira Bromwell took third.

In the boys poll, Grace had 42.51% of the vote to finish ahead of Cameron Jackson, a wrestler from Kennedy-Fremont, who took second at 25.02%. Santa Teresa basketball player Ayden Bobbitt was third.

Putanec came up big in goal with four saves of penalty kicks to lift Menlo past Carlmont (1-1, 5-4 PKs) and into the CCS Division III semifinals. She also led the Knights to a win over Notre Dame-Belmont earlier in the week.

Grace won the 165-pound division at the Central Coast Section wrestling championships after defeating Palma’s Isaiah Rangel by fall (1:17).
