He met Linda Ann Prindle in 1964, and they married and settled in Los Altos in 1967. He began his career in Palo Alto CA working at Varian and Associates. He chose ajob 7miles from his home so he could ride his bike to work daily, and thus he rode over 100,000 miles during his career.

He played softball for the work team and joined a bowling league. He also enjoyed woodworking classes, which he continued after he and Linda moved to the Monterey Peninsula after their retirement.

In retirement Ed and Lin purchased an Airstream trailer and travelled to many memorable locations. It was through this group they met many wonderful new friends.

He was involved in many volunteer organizations during his lifetime including the Y’s Men of Santa Clara Valley, and most recently he volunteered often at the Point Sur Lighthouse, restoring, painting and giving tours.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents and brother James Dodge. He is survived by his wife Linda ,daughter Julie Pavek (Joe) son Randy (Shannon) and grandchildren Jamie and Jessie Pavek, and Theodore and Trey Dodge.

Ed will be missed for many things, including his affinity for doing math in his head, thoughtful calls on everyone’s birthday and his love of spreadsheets.
