Marsh tour
The Redwood Region Audubon Society will present a free guided field trip at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Bring binoculars and meet trip leader Janelle Chojnacki at the end of South I Street (Klopp Lake) in Arcata to enjoy incredible views of Humboldt Bay, easy-to-walk trails and a great diversity of birdlife.
Tour the marsh
Friends of the Arcata Marsh is sponsoring a free tour of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday. Meet leader Barbara Reisman at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center on South G Street for a 90-minute walk focusing on marsh plants. This event is held rain or shine. Bike the marsh
FOAM board member and naturalist Lynn Jones will lead a “Second Sunday Cycling Tour” of the Arcata Marsh on Sunday. Everyone will meet at 2 p.m. at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center for this 90-minute tour focusing on the “Three Ws of the Marsh” (wetlands, wildlife and wastewater treatment).
Bring your own bike or e-Bike and wear a helmet; all ages are welcome. Heavy rain cancels the outing. For more information, call 707-826-2359.
Dance party
A dance featuring live music and “a great floor” will be held Monday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka. Admission is $9.
Caltrans retirees
Caltrans retirees, spouses and Quarter Century Club members will meet at 9:30 a.m. April 17 at the Village Pantry, 1912 Broadway, Eureka. RSVP to Arlene Hartin at ahartin@suddenlink.net or 707-498-1003 by Monday. Those in attendance should be fully COVID vaccinated.
