Resident of Gilroy

It is with great sadness &much love that we announce the passing ofBruce James Welch at the age of77.

Bruce was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Robert and Helen Welch. His family relocated to Santa Clara, California when he was about ten years old. Being one of five children, he enjoyed growing up in a bustling house constant with activity.

When Bruce was 18 he joined the US Navy. His major assignment was serving on the aircraft carrier USS Proteus.

He spoke fondly of those days and was proud to be aveteran.

The majority of Bruce’s career was spent in the semi-conductor industry. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Management from St. Mary’s College of California in 1995. He eventually retired from Infineon Technologies in 2010 where he was the Director of Facilities and Real Estate. Bruce loved retirement. As he would always say, “Everyday is a Saturday.” He enjoyed golfing, traveling and even took up painting as ahobby. He was also incredibly handy and could repair just about anything. He was happiest when he had a project to work on with many more in the queue.

Bruce is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Chandra (Jeremy) Miehe, son Chad, step-son Gregory Humphreys, grandchildren Jacob, Emilia and Jax, sisters Diane (Carl) Marvin and Karen Diaz as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was loved by all he met. He was adevoted and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept us laughing. His courageous and determined spirit and love of life will be missed by all. A private Celebration of Life gathering has been planned.
