Loving mother, grandmother, cousin, and cherished friend to many, Janice Elizabeth (Best) Di- Ciuccio passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024.

Born on October 15, 1948, to Frank Best and Rose (Tramontana) Best in San Jose, CA, Janice was the beloved only child of her parents. Her early years were filled with joy and family, especially the treasured Sunday dinners at her maternal grandparents’ home, a tradition that instilled in her a deep love forfamily gatherings.

Janice graduated from Lincoln High School in San Jose, where she shone as a cheerleader. She pursued her education at San Jose State University, becoming a proud sorority member and earning her teaching credentials. Teaching was her true calling, and she poured her heart into her profession, particularly cherishing her time with the youngest students who brought her so much joy.

Her love for the ocean eventually led her to Aptos, where she continued teaching until her retirement.

There, she found solace and inspiration in Seacliff Beach, often walking her beloved dog along the shoreline. An animal lover at heart, Janice was apas- sionate advocate for wildlife, particularly elephants, and became increasingly dedicated to conservation efforts in her later years.

Janice will be deeply missed by her family, not only for her love and warmth but also for her quick wit and sparkling sense ofhumor. She could always brighten a room with her clever remarks and infectious laugh.

She issurvived byher devoted son, Robert (Rob) Di- Ciuccio, her cherished grandson, Zilo, many cousins, and countless friends who were touched by her generosity, kindness, and lively personality.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (sheldrickwildlifetrust.org), an organization dedicatedtothe conservation and protection ofwildlife, acause that was close to Janice’s heart.
