At this cooking demonstration at the Art Institute's Terzo Piano, chef Carolina Diaz transports guests to seaside Spain, specifically, Valencia, the spiritual home of paella. Diaz will teach guests how to prepare the specialty, along with another favorite, tortilla Espanola, a Spanish take on the frittata. Each dish will be paired with wines made from regional grapes like bobal, tempranillo and garnacha.
All-you-can-eat chili and a couple of cold ones from Lagunitas for just $20? Get it at The Arts of Life's eighth annual chili cook-off. Entries to compete are full, but that shouldn't stop you from eating your fill of chili, all while supporting the West Town arts organization in its mission to provide services to adults with developmental disabilities. Local celebrity judges Doug Sohn (Hot Doug's), Val Capone (Chicago Red Hots), David Eigenberg (NBC's “Chicago Fire”) and Diane Honeyman (Windy City Cafe) will preside. A ticket gets you unlimited chili and Black Dog Gelato, plus two Lagunitas beers.
