Homicide investigation: On Dec. 22 at around 3:55 p.m., Woodland Police Dispatch received multiple reports of a shooting on Baird Court near Powers Circle. Officers quickly responded and located a male victim with life-threatening injuries. CPR was performed on scene and the victim was transported to the hospital. Tragically, the victim later passed away at UC Davis Medical Center.

Witnesses described the suspect as a male around 20 years old, approximately 6' tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, faded black pants, and dark-colored shoes. The suspect is believed to have fled on foot northeast towards the Bel-Air shopping center. Crime Scene Investigators and Detectives responded to help with the investigation. Detectives have been working tirelessly on this case, but the suspect has not been apprehended.

Felony drug arrest: On Dec. 24 at around 1:49 a.m., officers located an individual in a business parking lot on the 1200 block of East Gibson Road who was holding a pipe consistent with consuming methamphetamine. The officers detained and searched the individual, locating a gram of methamphetamine. The suspect, 61-year-old James McCune, was also a California Penal Code 290 registrant. McCune was booked into the Yolo County Jail for felony drug possession.

Homeless Outreach Street Team Weekly Report

HOST made 32 contacts and offered services to 20 individuals; three accepted services. HOST tagged 10 camps and cleaned up four. HOST conducted five downtown patrols.

HOST assisted Patrol with calls for service during staffing shortages due to a homicide investigation. HOST also assisted Investigators with locating video surveillance. HOST worked to connect an individual with County Mental Health resources. Like many other individuals HOST talks to, this person was apprehensive about utilizing resources. We hope the connection to care will be a positive change for them, especially during the holiday season.
