Damos Deworken doubled, drew a walk, had two RBI, and scored twice in Santa Cruz High’s 8-3 win over Aptos in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League baseball action Friday.

Santa Cruz scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead and produced a four-run sixth to push its lead to 8-2.

Seth Jin had three of the Cardinals’ six hits, drove in a run, stole two bases, and scored a run. Morgan Toohey had a hit, one RBI, and scored a run for Santa Cruz (6-2, 5-0). August Swanson had a hit and run scored.

Dom Castillo had a hit and two RBI for the Mariners (3-8, 1-4). Damien Espinoza had two hits and scored a run, and Jason Yager also had two hits.

Winning pitcher Jason Graff gave up five hits, one walk, and two runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six batters.

Yager gave up four runs, three earned, over four innings and was tagged with the loss. He struck out six batters and walked four.

On Saturday, Santa Cruz plays at Half Moon Bay (4-9) at 11 a.m., and Aptos hosts Pacific Grove (4-7) at noon.

At Soquel 9, Harbor 2 >> Hudson Summerrill had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI in the Knights’ SCCAL win Friday.

Gabe Virgallito had two hits, two stolen bases, and scored twice for the Knights (13-1, 4-1). Cash Moran doubled, had two walks and two stolen bases, and scored two runs. Connor Corlett and Brady Downs each had a hit, one RBI, and scored a run.

Cole McCombs had one of the Pirates’ three hits, drew two walks, and had one RBI.

Winning pitcher Dylan Hull gave up two hits and five walks over five scoreless innings and struck out five batters.

Soquel plays Leigh (11-1) on Friday at 4 p.m.

Harbor (11-3, 3-2) hosts Santa Cruz (6-2, 5-0) on April 15 at 4 p.m.

At Scotts Valley 6, San Lorenzo Valley 3 >> Kaleb Wing homered, had two RBI, and scored twice, and the Falcons won their SCCAL game Friday.

Nick Acton had a hit, walk, stolen base, and scored twice for the Falcons (6-8, 2-3). Eli Velez had a hit, two RBI, and scored a run.

Winning pitcher Bryce McDonnell gave up five hits, three walks and three runs, two earned over five innings. He struck out six batters. Lukas Bloom gave up one hit over two scoreless inning, struck out two batters, and earned the save.

Jaden Shabry doubled, had two RBI, and scored a run for the Cougars (1-10, 0-5). Porter Boyd had two of SLV’s six hits.

SLV hosts vs North Salinas (3-3) on Saturday at 11 a.m. Scotts Valley hosts Aptos (3-8, 1-4) on April 15 at 4 p.m.

At Monte Vista Christian 10, Greenfield 0; 5 inn. >> Carter Wright had two hits, two RBI, stole five bases, and scored twice in the Mustangs’ Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division win Friday.

Brady Cortez had two hits, including a double, two RBI, and scored a run for the Mustangs (10-3, 3-1). Parker Brown had two hits, three stolen bases, and two RBI, Gerard Tershey had a hit and scored three runs, and Mikie Melenudo had a hit and scored twice.

Fabian Gonzalez doubled and Osvaldo Gaeta singled for the Bruins (8-3, 1-3).

Winning pitcher Aidan Miller gave up two hits over four scoreless innings.

MVC hosts North Monterey County (7-7, 2-2) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Stanford Invitational >> Aptos senior Casey MacConnell took eighth in the long jump (21 feet, 6.25 inches) on the opening day of the two-day Stanford Invitational on Friday.

SLV senior Naomi Seastrom took 10th in the 400 hurdles (1 minute, 6.94 seconds).

At Aptos 77, Scotts Valley 62 >> The Falcons had three double winners in the Mariners’ SCCAL meet win Friday.

The Falcons’ Brent Kong took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.20) and 500 free (4:56.34), Brandon Kong took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.00) and 200 individual medley (2:06.75), and Torsten Ingesson took first in the 100 butterfly (57.95) and 100 backstroke (1:03.76).

At Aptos 120, Scotts Valley 6 >> Adelaide Friedley, Rose Lockwood, and Natalie Allen each won two events for the Mariners’ in their SCCAL meet win Friday.

Friedley took first in the 100 free (56.54) and 200 free (2:16.81), Lockwood took first in the 50 free (26.74) and 100 breast (1:17.34), and Allen took first in the 100 fly (1:04.08) and 200 IM (2:25.79).

High school softball

Monterey 17, at Watsonville 6 >> Amelia Martinez had a home run and three RBI for the Wildcatz in their PCAL Gabilan Division loss Friday.

Mia Espinoza had two hits, including a double, and scored twice for the Wildcatz (8-4, 0-2). Jillian Lerma had a hit, two RBI, and scored a run.

UC Santa Barbara commit Ella Myers had four hits, including a double and two home runs, and five RBI for the Toreadores (8-1-1, 2-0).

Watsonville plays at North Salinas (3-5, 0-2) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

At Palma 8, Aptos 0 >> Junior Kiersten Jara and Santa Clara University committed senior Sophia Cardinale hurled a perfect game against the Mariners in nonleague action Friday.

Cardinale struck out five batters over three innings, and Jara struck out eight batters over four innings.

Analysia Rocha had a hit, two walks, two RBI, and scored twice for the Chieftains (2-5).

Aptos (6-5, 2-2) returns to action with a SCCAL home game against Scotts Valley (8-3, 2-0) on April 15 at 4:30 p.m.

Boys tennis

At Scotts Valley 4, Harbor 1 >> Senior Elijah Diamond and junior Lincoln Verinsky earned singles wins for the Falcons in their SCCAL victory on Friday.

Due to low rosters for both teams, just three singles matches were played. Harbor defaulted No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles and both teams double defaulted at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.

Diamond defeated Abraham Bachar 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 and Verinsky beat Luke Griffin 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

Harbor’s Andreas Martinez of Harbor beat Garvasis Kuriakose 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2.

On April 15 at 4 p.m., Scotts Valley (2-5, 2-3) hosts Aptos, while Harbor plays at Santa Cruz.

Girls lacrosse

Scotts Valley 16, Salinas 2 >> Senior midfielder Sofia Niklaus had seven goals and two assists in the Falcons’ win over the Cowboys at Harbor High on Friday. She also had 17 draw possessions and five draw controls.

Senior midfielder Skylar Dufour had three goals, four assists, and nine draw controls.

Junior defender/midfielder Lola Ritsema, a transfer from MVC, scored twice in her first game. Claire Skinner had one goal and one assist. Dillon Fiorita, Jessie Burbulys, Serena Sanford-Brantley each scored a goal. Erin Szymanski made two assists.

Boys lacrosse

Carmel 13, Soquel 12 >> Jed Del Favero scored eight goals in the Knights’ narrow loss Thursday.

Zachery Beckerman-Stevens had two goals and one assist for the Knights (4-4). Wyatt Nichols and Tao Boone-Storm each scored a goal.

Goalie Daniel Bjorn made 15 saves for the Knights, who host Stevenson on April 24 at 5 p.m.
