Zora Jane Sanborn was born in Julesburg, Colorado to Lewis Vaughan Labaree and Marguerite Lucille (Tennant) Labaree. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her sister Marguerite Jean ‘Jeanie’ Hunt, and her brother Joseph ‘Joe’ Hardin Labaree.
Zora attended elementary school in Ft. Collins, and later graduated from East Denver High School. As a college student, Zora met Howard Porter Sanborn at the University at Ft. Collins while he was a teaching lab assistant for Zoology. They were married June 13, 1954. They moved to Kalamazoo, MI, where Michael Jon and Christina Anne were born. Later, they moved to Castro Valley, CA where Mona Sue and Katrina Jean were welcomed into the family.
Throughout her life she had many professional endeavors including entrepreneur, travel agent, and educator. Zora was a long-time United Methodist Church member and a past leader of United Methodist Women. She was a voracious reader, and loved being part of book groups. Zora made many baby blankets for family and friends’ babies. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, making many pair of fingerless gloves over the past 15 years.
Zora and Howard were blessed in their 68 years of marriage to have traveled to many countries and to celebrate many wonderful events with their family and friends. Zora leaves behind all the folks mentioned as well as her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She will be sorely missed by all of those who love her.
