Yankees: Aaron Judge set a franchise record for the Yankees on Saturday with his 34th home run before the All-Star break. Roger Maris hit 33 before the break in 1961, the year he finished with a major league record of 61. Judge matched that mark in 2022 and went on to hit 62 homers, breaking what had become an American League full-season mark held by Maris. Juan Soto and Judge hit back-to-back homers in the fifth inning against Baltimore, both to center field. Soto’s 426-foot drive gave the Yankees a 5-1 lead, and Judge followed with a towering solo shot that went 431 feet.

Tigers, Dodgers: Gio Urshela hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning after the Tigers overcame a 9-4 deficit in the ninth to beat the Dodgers 11-9 on Saturday. Wenceel Perez bunted Ryan Vilade to third to start the 10th. The Dodgers played a five-man infield, but Urshela ruined the strategy by homering to left off Yohan Ramirez (0-4). Shohei Ohtani hit his 200th homer and tripled, giving him 233 total bases — the eighth-highest total before the All-Star break since the game was first played in 1933.

St. Louis sent 12 men to the plate in the first, its biggest inning in more than a year, to provide more than enough support for Lynn (5-4). Hayden Wesneski allowed 11 runs — four earned — on 10 hits in four innings.

Mets: Drew Smith underwent Tommy John surgery with an internal brace procedur, likely knocking the reliever out of action until 2026. Smith, who is slated to hit free agency after this season, last pitched June 23, when he exited after getting two outs in the ninth inning of a 5-2 win over the Chicago Cubs.
