Resident of San Jose

Frederick Schulenburg, 88, passed away peacefully on November 6. He was born in San Francisco on April 30, 1937. Fred graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, and he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from San Jose State and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He retired from Syntex Labs in Palo Alto with over 25 years of service. He was an active member of Westgate Church in Saratoga for over 45 years.

Fred was active inscouting in his youth and as an adult.

He was the founding Scout Master of Troop 261 in the Almaden Valley. He led numerous camping and backpacking trips over the years with both the scouts and his family. He was an avid woodworker, and many family members treasure the items he handcrafted for them. He was a dedicated gardener and participated with the Santa Clara County Master Gardeners program for many years.

In retirement, he enjoyed taking cruises with his wife, Martha and was one segment short of a complete circumnavigation of the globe. Along with his brother Sam, he was a devoted photographer and took numerous photos on his various travels. Family members looked forward to the calendar he gave out each Christmas featuring photos from his many trips.

He is survived by his children, Frederick (Dianne), Carroll Endicott (Lindsay), Thomas, Cynthia and Robert; his grandchildren, Philip Pangrac, Joseph Pangrac, Comet James (Roxanne), Loki Endicott (Cody Brennermann & David Sulivan), Ryan Schulenburg, Bridgid Schulenburg and Millie Schulenburg; his great-granddaughter, Leona James; and his sister, Lois Karengin. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Martha; his parents, Fred and Lenora Schulenburg; and his brother, Samuel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 17, 2025 at Westgate Church, 1735 Saratoga Avenue, San Jose, followed by a graveside service at Los Gatos Memorial Park at 2:00pm.
