As a teacher of 33 years, badly done, Mother McAuley administration, badly done, to paraphrase Jane Austen. One wonders if there is a hidden agenda to push out a teacher of 40 years for teaching an important lesson on harmful, racist language spoken in context and not to be hurtful or derisive.

If I had a student enrolled there, she would be withdrawn. Better to forgive than condemn.

Regarding the teacher that was fired at Mother McAuley for using the N-word in the course of a history discussion, if it wasn’t so pathetic, it would be funny.

Black people cannot expect everyone to stop using the N-word when they use it in there rap music and their everyday conversation. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

If you’ve been teaching for 40 years plus and you haven’t figured out how to teach without being offensive to the students, then yes, it’s time for you to go home and retire. Just like you wouldn’t shout fire in a crowded movie theater, there are some words that shouldn’t be spoken, period.

And I’m sorry for all you entitled Caucasian people who feel entitlement. Until you walk in a Black person’s shoes, please don’t tell us how to feel.

So incredibly sad about Mary DeVoto. What better way to make the point and have it make an impact than to use the actual words that are hurtful to some segment of the population.

This is an educational moment, not a slur. She was not calling anyone anything. She was comparing apples to apples and

I’m sure every student knew what she was talking about and why she said it, except for some malcontents.

A previous commenter complained about the obscene carrot commercial on TV. I complained about it to ABC 7 and also about the nudity in a commercial for Fort Lauderdale.

These are aired during the afternoon and evening newscasts. I’m an adult and I object.

Do only adults watch the news?
