Paving project set for Jay Road

Workers are scheduled to start milling Jay Road at 8 a.m. Tuesday between 63rd Street and Colo. 119, according to a release.

They also will work on 55th Street between Jay Road and Colo. 119; 57th Street between Jay Road and Independence Road; and Independence Road between Colo. 119 and 57th Street. Construction work is scheduled from 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to a release.

Depending on the weather, construction on Jay Road is anticipated to last through October and the other three roads will be complete in November, according to the release.

Officials to host Child Friendly City meetings

Boulder officials will host two workshops to determine the top priorities for a Youth Action Plan as part of its ongoing efforts to become recognized as a UNICEF Child Friendly City.

The workshops are open primarily to young people in grades 6 through 12. There’s also limited space for caregivers, parents and adult representatives from groups that work with children. Attendance at both workshops is requested, but not required.

The first workshop is from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 30, while the second is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6. Both will be held at the Boulder Municipal Service Center, 5050 Pearl St. To sign up, go to bit.ly/3TDIuDh.

To attend the Sept. 30 session, people are asked to sign up by Sept. 25. Each participant will receive a $10 gift card per session and will be entered to win a door prize giveaway for attending both sessions. Snacks, childcare and interpretation services will be provided.

The Child Friendly Cities Initiative is a partnership between the city of Boulder, Growing Up Boulder and UNICEF USA. Funding for the workshops and the development of the Youth Action Plan has been provided by sponsorship from The Colorado Health Foundation.

Fall shredding event coming up on Saturday

Community members with sensitive documents and other paper shredding needs can attend a fall shredding event set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday in Broomfield.

Residents who need to dispose documents can bring paper to shred at the Norman Smith Service Center, 3001 W. 124th Ave. Broomfield residents can shred a maximum of three banker’s or copy paper boxes weighing no more than 35 pounds per box. Three 32-gallon trash bags of paper also will be accepted.
