2-alarm fire damages businesses at airport
A two-alarm fire damaged a commercial building at the San Rafael Airport on Thursday.
“There were two separate landscaping businesses operating from the building,” said Deputy Fire Chief Robert Sinnott of the San Rafael Fire Department. “Unfortunately, the contents appear to be a total loss.”
The fire was reported at about 1:30 p.m. at the 5,000-square-foot building at 400 Smith Ranch Road. Crews had the fire under control within 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported, Sinnott said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The damage estimate was not available Thursday.
The fire was the second at the airport since March, when a 2,000-square-foot building used as a machine shop was destroyed. The building contained combustible liquids.
