tallahassee, fla. >> NiJaree Canady scattered three hits for her second-straight complete game in less than 24 hours, pitching Texas Tech to its first-ever Women’s College World Series with a 2-1 win over Florida State. Canady (30-5) walked her only batter of the game on four pitches to lead off the top of the seventh.

South Carolina 9, UCLA 2>> Lexi Winters had a two-run home run in the first inning and drove in three runs, Sam Gress threw three-plus innings of no-hit relief and eighth-seeded South Carolina opened the Columbia NCAA Super Regional with a 9-2 rout of eighth-seeded UCLA.

Game 2 in the best-of-3 series is Saturday. A leadoff walk came before Winters’ two-out blast to center field. Then Kaitlyn Terry (18-5) hit a batter and Brooke Blankenship ripped an RBI double down the rightfield line. Arianna Rodi roped a two-run single in the second for the Gamecocks.

Nebraska 5, Tennessee 2>> Jordy Bahl pitched a complete game and scored two runs, Hannah Camenzind hit a home run and Nebraska beat Tennessee 5-2 in Game 1 at the best-of-three Knoxville Super Regional.

Nebraska (43-13), making its third appearance in a super regional and its first since 2014. can clinch a berth in the Women’s College World Series with a win in Game 2 on Saturday. Bahl (26-6) gave up two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.

Ole Miss 9, Arkansas 7>> Ashton Lansdell drove in three runs and Mississippi won its first NCAA Super Regional game 9-7 as fourth seeded Arkansas stranded 13 runners on base. Lexie Brady and Mackenzie Pickens doubled in runs in the third ahead of Lansdell’s home run.

The start of the game was moved up eight hours to avoid inclement weather.

Florida 6, Georgia 1>> Reagan Walsh hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Keagan Rothrock threw a two-hitter to carry third-seeded Florida to a 6-1 win over unseeded Georgia in the opening game of the Gainesville NCAA Super Regional.

Rothrock took a no-hitter into the sixth, facing just one batter over the minimum. She struck out seven, walked two and hit one batter.

Oklahoma 3, Alabama 0>> Kasidi Pickering hit a two-run home run and Sam Landry pitched a complete game for Oklahoma and the Sooners beat Alabama 3-0 on Friday in Game 1 of the best-of-five Norman Super Regional.

No. 2 seed Oklahoma (49-7) can clinch a berth in the Women’s College World Series with a win in Game 2. The Sooners have won 17 consecutive super regional games.

Landry (23-4) allowed four hits with two walks, a hit-by-pitch and five strikeouts. Abigale Dayton drew a lead-off walk in the third and Pickering hit the next pitch over the wall in center field.
