James (Jim) Allen Brown, born on December 30, 1933 in Greensburg, PA, passed away peacefully at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany, Oregon at the age of 90. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends for his faithfulness to God, his sense of humor, his love of people and caring spirit.
Jim was married to Marcella Brown for 68 years until Marcella’s death in November of 2021. He was a school teacher in the Pasadena Unified School District for 33 years from 1960-1993, and also taught the visually impaired at one time and was fluent in Braille. He was an avid music lover and pianist, organist, and loved singing in the choir at the Pasadena Nazarene Church. He also served as the Boy Scout Master of Troop 21 at Pasadena Nazarene for many, many years, hiking over 1000 miles with the troop in the High Sierras. Jim also had a passion for missions and served on numerous work and witness projects around the world.
Jim and Marcella also lived in Redding, California; Albany, Oregon; and Sun City, Arizona. Jim is survived by his son, Dale Brown, his daughter, Beverly Almen, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by his son, Bill Brown.
