Scotts Valley High’s girls volleyball team swept visiting St. Francis, 25-5, 25-13, 25-16, in the teams’ nonleague match Monday.
Junior outside hitter Aila Papadopoulus had 13 kills for the Falcons. Sophomore teammate Zoë Norris, an outside hitter, had seven kills. Middle blocker Harlan Hennager had five kills and two blocks.
Scotts Valley coach Mikayla Fish said sophomore setter Ava Dumesny “played really well” while working on her jump sets and quick sets. Dumesny finished with 20 assists.
Peyton Orradre had two kills for the Sharks.

CA State Intercollegiate >> UC Santa Cruz’s Adeline Truong finished in a three-way tie for third place at the CA State Intercollegiate at Olivas Links in Ventura on Tuesday.
Truong, a freshman out of Bishop Manogue Catholic High in Reno, Nevada, followed up her opening round 76 on Monday with a closing 72 for a 4-over-par 148 total.
Hannah Ulibarri of The Master’s won medalist honors with a 1-under 143 total.
Claremont Mudd Scripps shot 20 over par and took first in the 10-team event. UCSC shot 45 over and took fourth place.
UCSC’s Jiya Dalal (154) tied for 16th, Sammy Shaw (159) tied for 27th, Olivia Lew (161) tied for 32nd, and Elana McGrew (165), a sophomore out of Scotts Valley, tied for 41st.
Girls tennis
Scotts Valley 7, at St. Francis 0 >> The Falcons earned a sweep in their nonleague match at Pajaro Dunes on Monday.
The short-handed Sharks forfeited matches at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, senior Sofia Niklaus defeated Paula Reyes 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1; senior Erin Szymanski beat Annie Adeelmair 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and senior Ava Keller defeated Emily Ritter 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
In doubles action, Riya Kuriakose and Carmen Pitterling beat Sarah Kuriakose and Emma Delgado 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1, and Abbey Cox and Georgia Chetcuti combined for a 6-1, 6-0 win over Blanca Balba and Karissa Gonzalez at No. 2.
Scotts Valley (1-1) host Santa Cruz to open Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play on Sept. 24.
Girls flag football
King City 22, at Watsonville 14 >> Senior quarterback Fernanda Lazo threw a pair of touchdown passes, but the Wildcatz lost their league home opener on Monday.
Freshman running back Isabella Alvarez and junior receiver Fatima Gonzales scored for Watsonville. Gonzales had four flag pulls on defense.
The Wildcats opened their season Saturday and lost 18-14 to Loma Linda and 28-6 to Sacramento Adventist in nonleague action.
Watsonville (0-3) plays at Everett Alvarez in Salinas on Wednesday, and at Aptos on Thursday.
