Patrick Flaherty of Broomfield, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2024 at age 63.
Born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 14, 1960 to Bill Flaherty and Jean (Daniels) Flaherty, Patrick moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1968.
Patrick was a proud graduate of Fair view High School, where he served as drum major for the marching band and performed at the 1977 Rose Bowl Parade.
He continued his education at the University of Colorado Boulder where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1982 and studied computer science from 1999 to 2000.
Patrick began his professional career as an account manager at Wiland Services. He later became Vice President of Party Themes, Inc., a family business where he worked alongside his cousins, Kirsten, Josh and sister-in-law, Barbara. Later he served as the Business Administrator at Calvary Bible Church from 2002 to 2008 before returning to Wiland as a Client Services Director in 2011.
Patrick met the love of his life, Michelle, while working at Calvary Bible Church and they married on July 31, 2004. Patrick loved Michelle's daughters, Jordan and Hannah, and their family was completed with the birth of Emily in 2005.
Patrick could often be found reading a book in his favorite chair, but as a devoted husband and father, he loved spending time with his family. Whether they were vacationing to Orange Beach, Alabama or the Disney Parks in Florida and California, riding bikes on the trails of Broomfield, taking walks with their three dogs, enjoying the many wonderful meals he prepared, or watching Star Wars, he cherished their time together.
A man of many talents, Patrick enjoyed bringing joy to others. In 1989, Patrick and his best friend Rick Witt founded a bike rally in Boulder and named it the Flame n' Bull, after their respective nicknames.
The 25-35 mile long rally concluded with a fun celebration at Scott Carpenter Park. The rally continually grew in participation and was held for three years.
Patrick regularly played Santa Claus or a clown at various events and had a passion for magic tricks, often sharing them with his daughters. As a committed member of Calvary Bible Church, Patrick devoted time to studying the Bible and volunteered with the middle and high school ministries, mentoring leaders and supporting students.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle; his daughters, Jordan, Hannah, and Emily; his brother David Flaherty (Barbara); his step-mother Barbara Flaherty; and cousins, Kirsten Laird (Warren), Josh Sundberg, Sarah (Miles), and Kensey (Joshua). He is deeply missed by his family and friends who will remember him for his kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Flaherty; his father, Bill Flaherty; his nephew, Michael Flaherty; and his niece, Lorie Kimble.
A memorial service to celebrate Patrick's life will be held at Calvary Bible Church in Boulder, September 8 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Hear t Association in Patrick's honor.
