GEMU Clawcade and Playground, a new 8,000-square-foot family entertainment destination, opened April 15, at Oakland Mall in Troy.
GEMU features arcade-style claw machines (with prizes) and an interactive playground featuring a ball pit, air cannons, twirly slide, and a mini basketball court, designed for both children and adults to play together, according to a press release. It was founded by Shelby Township mother-daughter duo Grace and Wen Chen, and designed with safety and cleanliness in mind, according to the release.
The name GEMU is inspired by the Japanese word for “game.”
The arcade includes machines that operate using tap-to-pay cards. All-day passes for the playset area can be purchased with free entry for two parents accompanying each child. GEMU also offers party room bookings.
