Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather Gary Leo Reinhardt passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024. Born June 30, 1943 to the late Leo and Helen Reinhardt, Gary lived a life full of active service to family, country, and community.

Gary was part of the first graduating class of St. Bernard’s High School. He was part of the Como speed skating club, played football, and sang in the choir. A gifted singer, he was often cast as the lead male character opposite Louanne Troye. Louanne would, in time, become Louanne Reinhardt.

After graduation he took a warehouse position with Montgomery Ward. He held numerous positions with that company until his retirement. He also became an Army Reservist, where he discovered a lasting love of cooking.

Gary and Louanne spent 56 years together in a dedicated and loving partnership. They welcomed into this world 4 children. The family grew with the addition of 2 grandchildren.

These boys became the light of his life and brought joy and contentment into a heart already full.

An active man, he hunted ducks, fished, played golf, and found relaxation in his garden. He was an avid bowler, becoming a youth coach in later years. As a member of MSRA, he restored a classic 1928 Ford Model A.

As a member of Saint Bernard’s parish, he practiced his culinary skills as head cook for the parish State Fair Dining Hall and fundraising dinners.

Gary was a fighter. He overcame many medical setbacks before his final illness. He is survived by his loving wife Louanne, children Susan, Sally (Jeff) Ward, John (Heather Davis) and Joseph, grandchildren Adam and Erik Ward and brother Wayne (Deb). He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Helen.

Mass of Christian Burial for Gary Reinhardt will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, July 2 at Church of St. Bernard (187 Geranium Ave. W.) with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will follow services at Bradshaw (1078 Rice St.) at 1:00 PM.
