


Nine Santa Cruz groms made finals at the four-day National Scholastic Surfing Association West Coast Championships, which concluded Sunday at Huntington Beach Pier in Huntington Beach.
London Lorber took first in the Open Longboard with a 11.43 total and Explorer Women’s Longboard (all ages) with a 7.33 total.
Kai Len Wolsbeck, who grew up in the Netherlands, took second in the Open Juniors (U16) with a score of 12.67.
Gunnar Sehorn took second in the Open Mini Groms (U12) with a score of 11.60.
Camille Cortazzo took second in the Open women’s (all ages), and Santa Cruz’s Isla Hardy (5.96) took fourth.
Kirra Huntress took third (11.37) in Open girls U16 and Hardy (9.43) was fourth.
Riviera Hunter took second in the Explorer Girls (14U) with a 10.13 total, third in the Explorer Women’s (all ages) with a 9.30 total, and took fourth in Open Super Girls (U14) with a 7.50 total.
Cooper Shank (8.40) took fourth in the Explorer Mens (all ages), and Mason Sehorn (9.86) took fourth in the Explorer Boys (14U).

D-II NorCal Regional playoffs >> Harbor, the newly crowned Central Coast Section Division II champion, begins the CIF D-II NorCal Regional playoffs on the road.
The No. 6 seed Pirates (30-5 overall) open at No. 3 Del Oro (23-13) in Loomis in first-round action Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Golden Eagles took fourth place in the Sierra Foothill Athletic League and swept West Park for the Sac-Joaquin Section D-II title.
The Harbor-Del Oro winner faces either No. 2 Amador Valley (26-11) or No. 7 Clovis North (20-13) in the regional semifinals on Thursday at 6 p.m.. The highest remaining seed will host.
On quarterfinals on the other side of the bracket, No. 8 West Park (23-10) plays at No. 1 Buchanan (27-16), and No. 5 Lincoln (32-5) of San Francisco plays at No. 4 Los Gatos (19-11).
The regional final takes place Saturday at 6 p.m.. Again, the highest remaining seed will host.
Boys swimming
CIF State Championships >> Soquel senior Oliver Santana took 30th in the 100-yard butterfly prelims at the CIF State Championships at Clovis West High in Fresno on Friday. He finished in 49.99 seconds.
The New York University commit’s time was nearly a half second off his career-best and third-place finishing time at the CCS Championships last week.

Big West Conference Championships >> Long Beach State freshman Jonelle Scott, a Soquel alumna, took seventh in the pole vault (12-8.25) at the Big West Conference Championships in Long Beach on Friday.
Men’s track and field
Big West Conference Championships >> UC Santa Barbara freshman Braylon Noble took 11th in the high jump (6-5) and eight in the decathlon (5,890 points) at at the Big West Conference Championships in Long Beach over the weekend. His top finish in the decathlon was third in the 1,500 (4:39.68).
IC4A-ECAC Championships >> Fordham sophomore Sam Freeman, a Scotts Valley alum, took fourth in the 4×400 relay (3:17.31), 10th in the 400 (48.66), and 18th in the 200 (21.94) at the IC4A-ECAC Championships at George Mason University over the weekend.
