MOROCCO: Tiburon residents Jessica O’Dwyer and Tim Berger’s recent trip to Morocco included stops in Marrakech, Fes and Casablanca. They visited the capital city, Rabat, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, and spent a day, Jessica says, in the Atlas Mountains “for a short hike and lunch with a Berber family. Berbers are ethnic groups indigenous to North Africa. Some of the many highlights were the entire walled city of Fes, founded in 789, the beautiful Majorelle Gardens and Yves Saint-Laurent Museum in Marrakech; and dinner at Rick’s Café (pictured) in Casablanca, a fun and faithful representation of the cinematic set.”

TRAVEL TIPS: “Winter was the perfect time to visit — cool weather and no crowds. We hired a Moroccan guide and driver through our local travel advisor, Hina Aly of Travel Two Thousand. Visiting the mosque in Casablanca — one of the world’s largest and most spectacular — requires a guide and reservation. Splurge overnight in a riad, grand residences converted to luxury hotels.”
